Haven’t posted much in a while, but have been super busy gearing up for online sales of books. Now have an Etsy shop open, and a handful of books available.

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that PostBurn is on Hiatus for a bit. I injured myself, and have spent the last of my artistic energy to power though the last of my class work.

I go in for wrist surgery on the 15th, and am taken it easy in the mean time. I will have an update of sorts when I know for sure how long I will be on down. Really sorry about all this, but I also feel this is a good cliff hanger for the moment. This was about the half way point of the story, give or take a few pages.

These are the final versions of my 3 pieces from my class with Todd Lockwood over at SmART school.
SmART school was a intense and wonderful experience that I am leaving with a lot of knowledge, new friends, and these 3 pieces for my portfolio. I feel without Todd’s direction I would not of been able to reach this level of work in such a short time. Its been a wonderful ride everyone, and I look forward to coming back!

My 2nd class project down. Along with the thumbnails and a handful of wips from along the way.
Scales are hard. I have this bad habit of just sticking them on top of the critter, and forgot to make them flow around the form. Also been a long ass time since I have drawn a traditional like dragon.

Due to me being out of town for Monsterplooza, while I was able to upload my page for last Thursday to the main site, I was unable to post the link. Pages are always upload on Thursday even if I don’t post the links.

Page 22(if you missed it)  And the newest page, 23
You can read it from the beginning Here.

T-shirt idea I have been poking at for a while. Had Chaos’ help with some of the design aspects.
Wow, those spots look terrible. I need to change those up, but would like any other input.

First piece for a class I am taking this spring. Some of my choice thumbnails, to the over all build up of a piece. This would have to be the most polished I have ever worked a piece, but wont be the last. Pushing lighting, value, form and details. Figuring out the hard things like anatomy, foreshortening and perspective.

The next couple pages are so hard to contain. I have comments to add but feel I should keep them to myself.

Sketch breaks/speedpaintings.

Did the thumbnails a week or so ago, picked out my favorites. Might pick out another one to sketch out.

Forgot to post a link to last weeks page. It’s been kind of busy here with work and classes so if you didn’t check the site last week, there are 2 new pages!

Project:PostBurn

Painting I have had in the works for a while. I started the sketches for this last year around the holidays. I learned that next time I will draw out all the parts on tracing paper, instead of some of them, so I know where they all lay on the board.
Now to clear coat.

Some sketches with watercolors form my smaller, 3x5 moleskin. The birds I drew while standing in line for like an hour, and then later painted mostly with Imidazolone Brown glazes. The forest is mostly Quinacridone Magenta. I really like all the Quinacridone colors I have tried out, I dig the amount of layering I can work into the glazes.
